It is currently a topic of much debate and it needs to be addressed. Hot vs. Cute. What does it mean? Why does it matter?
No girl wants to just be cute. It's a fact. Girls want to be pretty or hot. Can you be both? Sure...kinda...ish.
Speaking from personal experience, being told I'm "sooooo cute" makes me want to die inside. Luckily, I am already dead inside. Moving on...

Hypothetically, if a boy told a girl that she "reminded him of a pomeranian, bouncing around smiling and laughing all the time," how is she supposed to take that? Said boy does not take said girl seriously if in his head, she resembles a lap dog.
Do boys like being told they are "cute?" Wouldn't a guy rather be hot? Is that really hard to grasp?
I'm getting heated...weigh in on comments and take the survey...ready...GO!

I pretty much lost my chances at scoring the "you're sooooo cute!" compliment when I shot up to 5'10" in 7th grade. You can't really be cute when a boy comes up to your chest.
As we have discussed, my preference is for "hot" vs. "cute." However I do appreciate being told that I LOOK cute in terms of my outfit or my overall look at that point in time. I think saying that someone looks cute versus saying they ARE cute is a big difference. I also think that last sentence will only make sense to you and I.
I often tell guys that they look cute and I don't realize that they might not like it so I try to balance it. But sometimes I feel like saying to a guy "you're hot!" is the equivalent of saying "you are really working that shell necklace and Express for Men black fitted shirt!" Hot works for some guys but not others. Sometimes I just like my guy to be cute, plain and simple.
Allow me to weigh in on this debate:
My preference would be to be told I'm hot. I've actually been told that I look hot several times. However, that statement takes on a different meaning when it's because I'm sweating profusely and red-faced after walking up the street to get ice cream on an August night. I literally LOOK hot.
I have been told I look or am cute, but we funny guys always get that versus hot. All I have to cling to is that I'm funny, so if that somehow equals cute I'll take it. Its better than someone saying I'm off-putting or unfunny in a Gilbert Gottfried kind of way.
Right on! Same is true for guys. No one wants to be Michael Cera if they have the option to be Matthew Fox.
well...like Ryan...I think I have only been told I was hot one time when my mom found me ready to pass out from mowing the lawn in 100 degree July weather. So...I have definitely been told I was cute plenty of times...but I think half the time it's cause I'm 5'8" and look like a meatball.
I was watching Leno the other night, and this actor, I forget his name, was talking about the craziest way a girl has come on to him in the past.(in the 70's he was a stud). He said how when he went to pick a girl up, she came to the door in a towel, then as she turned to proceed back into the house, she just dropped the towel and he went at it. Now i was thinking to myself, never in my life could i imagine a girl wanting me that bad that on a first date she would do that.
I mean I had my hookups in college, but that was usually after many drinks and me asking to see the chicks boobs 400 times.
Anyways, I know for sure I'm not a bad looking kid...but cute sucks...Hot is definitely much cooler.
90 percent of the time hot is better. However, it always depends on the age of the person making the hot or cute comment. For instance, if you're 30 and a 60 year-old calls you "hot," it will likely make your skin itchy.
I am ugly. I used to be chubby, but I am not any longer. Not that it makes much of a difference. Now I am mostly thin, but still ugly. The only reason I ever got women to date me was my exceedingly charming personality. Only in my wildest dreams would someone ever look at me and think 'cute.'
I'm going to cry myself to sleep now.
Never mind hot versus cute... worse is being called "friend." Oh, I love you like a friend... you're such a great friend.
Oh please. Friend = I don't find you all that attractive, but I'll lead you on because you give me an ego boost.
Talk about being a lap dog....
I'd rather be the "hot" guy, but have never been him. I've been cute, intelligent, funny, good to talk to... If a woman has thought me hot, then she's kept it to herself.
I've actually had a girl say to me as we're having sex, "oh you're so sexy!"
Now, I'm not sexy. I'm cute. I'm aware of this. I'm aware of my cuteness but the sexy line just made me start laughing. Sometimes, cute is more realistic.
I understand hot vs. cute, but I never understand how pretty is better than cute?
Show more cleavage? You'll shoot from cute to hot in a matter of seconds! LOL
